hisThis coming Friday, April 28, Mani Ratnam's epic historical tale "Ponniyin Selvan 2" is slated to take over theatres all over the world. The anticipation for the multi-starrer film is doubled, especially in light of the fact that the first installment broke box office records by earning more than Rs. 500 crores, which is the greatest sum ever in Tamil cinema.

At a recent promotional tour, Chiyaan Vikram, who plays the role of Aditha Karikalan in "Ponniyin Selvan 2," said that Kamal Haasan had previously asked him to join a television series based on Kalki's book of the same name. He claimed that when MGR gave Kamal Haasan the rights to "Ponniyin Selvan," Kamal Haasan called him and said he was planning to adapt the book into a TV series and that he could pick any character he chose.

However, Vikram said that he had no plans to appear in TV series at the time and had told Kamal that if the book was turned into a movie, he would be open to playing any role. The National Award-winning actor expressed gratitude to the famous Ulaganayagan for allowing him the flexibility to select any character for his unrealized project. Of course, his performance in the Mani Ratnam movie has earned him his accolades, and fans can't wait to see him in the sequel.

A.R. Rahman composed the soundtrack for Ponniyin Selvan 2, which was made by Lyca Productions and Madras Talkies. The ensemble cast consists of Vikram, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Aishwarya Rai, Trisha, Nizhalgal Ravi, Rahman, Sarathkumar, Parthiban, Prakashraj, Kishore, Ashwin, Riyaz Khan, Lal, Mohan Raman, and others.
